Public Safety Officer
Pay Range: $16.00-$18.00
Status: Full-Time or Part-Time / Hourly, Non-Exempt
This position provides safety and security coverage to the campus of Davis and Elkins College.ÌýÌýThis person secures campus buildings & facilities, makesÌýroundsÌýand responds to calls.ÌýÌýThe schedule may vary depending upon the needs of the department, including evenings,ÌýnightsÌýand/or weekends.
Responsibilities
- Respond to students/staff with safety concerns asÌýpresented andÌýin accordance withÌýwritten policies and procedures.ÌýÌý
- Provide on-campus shuttle service for students,ÌýstaffÌýand faculty as requested.ÌýÌý
- Conduct foot patrols every hour after buildings have been secured.ÌýÌý
- Enforce campus policies as per direction of Director (e.g., parking, alcohol)ÌýÌý
- MaintainÌýappropriate recordsÌýand reports.ÌýÌý
- Secure buildings in manner as developed by Director.ÌýÌýÌý
- Direct traffic at events and enforce traffic/parking violations.ÌýÌý
- Conduct preliminary investigations of all crimes and violations of conduct.ÌýÌý
- AttendÌýtrainingsÌýor other meetings as called by the supervisor.ÌýÌýÌý
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities
High school diploma required.ÌýÌýMust be 21 years of age, mustÌýpossessÌýa valid WV driver’s license.Ìý

Ability to communicate well withÌýstudentÌýpopulation.ÌýÌýAbility to work alone and be self-motivated.ÌýÌýMust be able to work/walk on a hillside campus.ÌýÌýMust work in inclement weather.ÌýÌý
