Madison Rose of North Huntingdon, Pennsylvania, has been awarded a $5,000 per year scholarship for a total of $20,000 over four years to 51ºÚÁÏÍø after participating in Senator Leadership & Scholarship Day in December. Rose, a student at Norwin High School, was selected from a group of the 55 highest achieving high school seniors who are among hundreds of students accepted to attend 51ºÚÁÏÍø this fall.

Rose is the daughter of Jeremy and Kristina Rose of North Huntingdon. At Norwin High School, she is a member of the soccer team, student council and National Honor Society.

At 51ºÚÁÏÍø, Rose will major in chemistry. She has plans of attending graduate school in the future to earn a Ph.D. in pharmacy.

To be eligible to compete for a Leadership Scholarship, students must have at least a 3.0 GPA. Students were also required to submit a list of outstanding leadership honors or awards they have received and describe three skills that have strengthened them as a leader. Students vying for the scholarships participated in interviews and submitted an essay of no more than 500 words consisting of a personal statement outlining their interests, life experiences, goals and commitment to leadership.
